The 3" 1502 Style 10 Swivel Joint is a massive, extreme-pressure flow control component engineered to provide ultimate three-dimensional flexibility in large-bore, high-volume oilfield flowlines. In highly dynamic environments such as high-rate hydraulic fracturing (frac), large-scale well testing, and extreme high-pressure pumping operations, rigid large-bore piping systems are highly susceptible to severe stress fracturing caused by violent rig vibration, thermal expansion, and layout misalignments. This heavy-duty swivel joint acts as a mechanical hinge, absorbing these destructive forces while maintaining a completely leak-free seal under extreme pressures and massive fluid volumes.

What sets the "Style 10" configuration apart is its exceptional geometry. Unlike standard swivels that operate on a single axis, the Style 10 incorporates three distinct planes of rotation. This triple-articulation design allows the massive 3-inch connected piping to fold, sweep, and adjust in virtually any direction. It is the core component used to build highly flexible large-bore 15K "chicksan" loops, allowing crews to connect vibrating high-horsepower frac pumps to stationary wellheads without transferring destructive mechanical stress to the iron.

Rated for an extreme 15,000 PSI Cold Working Pressure (CWP) under the industry-standard Fig 1502 designation, this joint comes equipped with integral Male (with Wing Nut) by Female (Threaded) hammer union end connections for rapid, sledgehammer-tight rig-up. Constructed from premium forged alloy steel, it features a precision-machined heavy-duty ball-bearing race system that ensures smooth, bind-free rotation even when the joint is fully pressurized and subjected to immense structural side-loading from large-volume fluid transfer.

Features & Benefits

  • Style 10 Triple Articulation: Features three planes of rotation, providing maximum 3D flexibility for routing large-bore flowlines in highly congested or misaligned rig environments.

  • 15,000 PSI (1502) Rating: Safely contains extreme-pressure fluids, abrasive frac sands, and gases, making it mandatory for modern high-volume, high-pressure stimulation operations.

  • M(Wing) x F(Thread) Connections: Integrated FIG 1502 Male (Wing Nut) and Female (Thread) ends allow for seamless, rapid integration into standard 3-inch 15K iron spreads.

  • Precision Ball Bearings: The hardened, heavy-duty ball-bearing raceways ensure continuous, fluid rotation under extreme pressure and massive mechanical side-loading without binding.

  • Premium Forged Steel: Forged from high-strength alloy steel to fiercely resist abrasive internal wear from high-rate frac sand, chemical corrosion, and brutal external impacts.

Applications

The 3" 1502 Style 10 Swivel Joint is a mandatory component for building extreme-pressure, large-bore articulating iron assemblies. It is heavily utilized to construct flexible 3-inch 15K frac loops (chicksans), connect massive temporary flowlines to vibrating positive displacement pumps, articulate wellhead choke and kill manifolds, and eliminate rigid pipe stress in high-rate flowback layouts.

Quality Assurance

Manufactured to strictly comply with API 16C and API 6A standards for high-pressure flowline equipment. Every swivel joint undergoes rigorous hydrostatic pressure testing to verify seal integrity and ball-bearing performance prior to deployment. The massive forged steel bodies are subjected to thorough magnetic particle and ultrasonic inspections to guarantee the complete absence of micro-fractures or casting defects.
