The 3" x 2" 5-Valve Trash Catcher Manifold is a sophisticated, heavy-duty debris filtration system engineered for continuous, high-pressure flowback and well-testing operations. During post-frac drill-outs and well cleanups, wellbore fluids carry highly abrasive solids, including milled composite plugs, proppant, and pipe scale. This manifold acts as the primary defense mechanism, trapping these destructive particulates before they can inflict catastrophic wear on downstream choke manifolds, separation vessels, and plug valves.

The "5-Valve" dual-barrel design provides a critical operational advantage: uninterrupted flow. Utilizing five high-pressure plug valves (or gate valves) arranged in a bypass loop, operators can actively direct the fluid stream through one strainer barrel while isolating the other. This allows field technicians to safely bleed down the isolated barrel, remove the captured debris, and inspect the screens without shutting in the well or halting the flowback process.

Constructed from premium forged alloy steel (or specialized castings), this manifold features a high-volume 3-inch body with 2-inch internal strainer screens. Fully rated for up to 15,000 PSI maximum working pressure and equipped with FIG 1502 hammer union connections, the 5-valve trash catcher is built to withstand extreme turbulence, high-impact scouring, and the most grueling well pad conditions.

Features & Benefits

  • Continuous Dual-Barrel Operation: The 5-valve bypass configuration allows operators to isolate, blow down, and clean one catcher barrel while wellbore fluid continues to flow through the second barrel.

  • Extreme Equipment Preservation: Intercepts large, destructive frac plugs and formation debris, preventing costly abrasive damage to downstream chokes and test separators.

  • High-Pressure 15,000 PSI Rating: Forged steel construction and standard 3-inch FIG 1502 hammer union connections ensure absolute pressure containment in demanding flowback operations.

  • Optimized Filtration Dynamics: The 3" x 2" design perfectly balances high fluid throughput with aggressive solid trapping, minimizing pressure drops across the flowline manifold.

  • H2S Sour Service Capability: Available in NACE MR0175 compliant configurations to safely handle corrosive well fluids and environments containing hydrogen sulfide gas.

Specifications & Technical Details

Category Specification
Component Type Flowback Manifold / Debris Catcher
Size & Configuration 3" Body x 2" Screens (Dual-Barrel, 5-Valve Design)
Connection Type FIG 1502 Hammer Union (Integral or Threaded)
Pressure Rating (CWP) 10,000 PSI to 15,000 PSI (Test pressures up to 22,500 PSI)
Material Construction Forged Alloy Steel / Carbon Steel (API 6A Standards)
Service Application Flowback, Well Testing, Drill-Out Operations

Applications

The 5-Valve Trash Catcher Manifold is mandatorily deployed immediately downstream of the wellhead or emergency shutdown (ESD) valve during initial flowback operations. It is the preferred setup for coiled tubing plug drill-outs and high-rate frac fluid recovery, ensuring that well flow remains continuous and uninterrupted while capturing massive amounts of solid junk before the fluid enters the choke manifold.

Quality Assurance

Manufactured in strict accordance with API 6A and NACE MR0175 standards. All pressure-retaining bodies and high-pressure plug valves undergo comprehensive non-destructive testing (NDT), including ultrasonic and magnetic particle inspections, and are subjected to rigorous hydrostatic pressure testing (up to 22,500 PSI) to guarantee reliable performance and field safety.
