The Pneumatic Actuated ESD Plug Valve, 2" x 2" FIG 1502 Male (Wing) x 2" FIG 1502 Female (Thread), is an advanced high-pressure flow control and safety component engineered for extreme 15,000 PSI treating lines. Designed specifically as an Emergency Shutdown (ESD) device, this quarter-turn valve integrates a heavy-duty forged steel valve body with a reliable, rapid-response pneumatic actuator. This combination provides operators with the critical ability to instantly isolate flowlines from a safe, remote distance during hazardous events, blowouts, or catastrophic pressure spikes.
In high-rate hydraulic fracturing, flowback, and well testing operations, personnel safety and environmental protection are paramount. Standard manual plug valves require an operator to physically approach the high-pressure line to close the valve. This pneumatically actuated ESD valve eliminates that risk, utilizing rig air or compressed nitrogen to execute a rapid, automated shut-off. Typically configured to fail-close (though fail-open options are available depending on manifold logic), the actuator ensures the well or pump is immediately isolated if control signal or pneumatic supply is lost.
The 2" FIG 1502 configuration features an integral male wing end complete with a heavy-duty wingnut, paired with a precision-machined female thread (sub) connection. This allows for rapid, secure, and leak-free hammer-up installation into existing high-pressure choke manifolds, frac lines, and temporary well-testing piping layouts.
Features & Benefits
-
Pneumatic ESD Actuation: Equipped with a rapid-response pneumatic actuator for remote-controlled emergency shutdown, completely removing personnel from the high-pressure danger zone during isolation.
-
Fail-Safe Reliability: Engineered to instantly fail to a designated safe position (typically fail-close) upon the loss of pneumatic supply pressure, preventing uncontrolled blowouts or spills.
-
Full 15K CWP Capacity: The underlying forged plug valve body safely and continuously handles extreme working pressures up to 15,000 PSI under standard service environments.
-
Low-Torque Internal Design: Features precision-machined, heavy-duty plug and insert assemblies that reduce operational friction, ensuring the actuator can smoothly and quickly cycle the valve under maximum pressure.
-
Direct MxF Connection: Features a standard 2" 1502 wingnut on one side and a threaded sub on the other, allowing fast, adapter-free inline installation.

Applications
This pneumatically actuated 2-inch ESD plug valve is a critical safety asset for any high-pressure surface operation requiring remote or automated flow isolation. Typical applications include choke and kill manifolds, frac iron mainlines, high-pressure flowback packages, automated well testing separators, pump discharge headers, and any hazardous zone where manual valve operation is unsafe.
Quality Assurance
All our actuated flowline valves are manufactured from premium forged alloy steel and subjected to strict quality control processes. The valve bodies undergo rigorous non-destructive testing (NDT) and hydrostatic pressure testing to guarantee absolute shell integrity. Furthermore, the completely assembled unit undergoes exhaustive actuator function and cycle testing at full pressure to verify fail-safe response times and bubble-tight seal seating. Full material test reports (MTRs) are available upon request.
