The Heavy Duty Double Cushion Elbow, 3" FIG 1502 Male (Wing) x 3" FIG 1502 Female (Thread), is an ultra-rugged, large-bore flowline component engineered to handle extreme erosive environments in 15,000 PSI high-capacity treating lines. Also known as a target elbow or cushion block, this component features an advanced internal dual-chamber design that traps a small amount of stagnant sand and fluid during operations. This captured media acts as a natural, sacrificial shock absorber, deflecting the punishing force of incoming abrasive materials and shielding the outer steel wall from severe thinning.
In large-scale operations like high-rate hydraulic fracturing, high-volume cementing, and high-sand flowback, standard radius elbows experience rapid erosion due to direct, high-velocity particle impingement. This heavy-duty 3-inch block elbow mitigates that risk by redirecting wear onto the fluid cushion pocket, significantly extending the service life of your high-pressure iron package and lowering the risk of sudden line washouts.
The 3" FIG 1502 configuration provides a standard high-pressure male wing end complete with a heavy-duty wingnut, paired with a precision-machined female thread (sub) connection. This provides a direct, secure, and leak-free hammer-up connection for high-volume mainlines.
Features & Benefits
-
Dual-Cushion Erosion Barrier: Built-in stagnation pockets capture abrasive sand and fluid to form a shield, eliminating direct particle impingement against the elbow shell.
-
Large-Bore Efficiency: The full 3-inch bore size accommodates massive volumetric flow rates without causing excessive pressure drop or fluid turbulence.
-
Heavy-Duty Block Body: Solid, single-piece forged construction offers maximum resistance against pipe vibration, intense mechanical shocks, and high-pressure fatigue.
-
15K CWP Reliability: Safely and continuously handles extreme working pressures up to 15,000 PSI under standard service environments.
-
Direct MxF Connection: Features a standard 3" 1502 wingnut on one side and a threaded sub on the other, allowing fast installation without extra adapter fittings.

Applications
This heavy-duty 3-inch double cushion elbow is ideal for high-pressure, high-volume oilfield applications where erosive fluids are pumped at high velocity. Typical applications include high-rate frac manifold mainlines, sand separator outlet configurations, flowback iron corners, long-duration well testing setups, acidizing runs, and heavy cementing discharge lines.
Quality Assurance
All our heavy-duty double cushion elbows are manufactured from premium forged alloy steel and subjected to rigorous quality control processes. Each block undergoes dimensional layout checks, non-destructive testing (NDT), and strict hydrostatic testing to guarantee ultimate shell integrity, seal performance, and pressure containment under peak field conditions. Full material test reports (MTRs) are available upon request.
