The 3" FIG 1502 Flapper Type Check Valve for Sour Service is a high-capacity, heavy-duty directional flow control valve engineered specifically to handle the extremely corrosive and hazardous conditions of H2S environments. Built to safely withstand working pressures up to 15,000 PSI (15K CWP), this integral hammer union check valve ensures unidirectional fluid flow and prevents dangerous high-pressure backflow during aggressive, high-volume well servicing operations.
Operating in sour gas (H2S) environments exposes flowline iron to the severe risk of Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC) and rapid material failure. To combat this, the entire valve body and all internal metallic components are manufactured from highly specialized, corrosion-resistant steel alloys. These materials are strictly heat-treated to controlled hardness levels to meet or exceed NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 standards. Additionally, the valve is equipped with premium elastomer seals formulated to resist explosive decompression and chemical breakdown in sour fluids.
The flapper mechanism features a hinged clapper that swings completely open when active. In a 3-inch flowline, this creates a massive, full-bore unobstructed passage that significantly reduces turbulence and pressure drop. This full-bore design is critical for safely pumping large volumes of abrasive fluids, heavy cement slurries, and proppant-laden flowback in corrosive environments.
Features & Benefits
-
Sour Service Compliant: Manufactured from specialized alloys and heat-treated to strict maximum hardness levels in full compliance with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for safe H2S operation.
-
High-Volume, Full-Bore Design: The large 3-inch flapper mechanism moves completely out of the fluid path, minimizing turbulence and erosion when pumping massive volumes of abrasive fluids.
-
Extreme Pressure Rating: The rugged forged steel body is built to safely handle 15,000 PSI cold working pressures in aggressive sour well environments.
-
H2S-Resistant Seals: Equipped with premium elastomers specifically engineered to withstand harsh chemicals and sour gas without losing sealing integrity.
-
Integral FIG 1502 Connections: Features standard 3-inch FIG 1502 hammer union ends (Male x Female) for fast, secure, and leak-free makeup and breakout in the field.
-
Field Maintainable: Designed with a top-entry cover, allowing operators to quickly inspect or replace internal NACE-compliant wear components inline without removing the massive valve body.
