The 3" x 3" FIG 1502 Trash Catcher Manifold is the ultimate high-volume debris filtration vessel, specifically engineered for the most aggressive oilfield flowback and well clean-up operations. While 3" x 2" configurations are standard, the 3" x 3" design provides a critical advantage: full-bore 3-inch internal screening. By matching the 3-inch inlet/outlet with a massive 3-inch filtration screen, this manifold maximizes fluid throughput and drastically minimizes pressure drops across the flowline, making it the premier choice for ultra-high-rate frac flowback and extreme multi-stage drill-outs.

Positioned immediately downstream of the wellhead or emergency shutdown (ESD) valve, this heavy-duty vessel captures large, destructive solids—such as milled composite frac plugs, heavy pipe scale, cement fragments, and large rock shards. By intercepting these hazards early, the 3" x 3" Trash Catcher prevents catastrophic abrasive wear on downstream choke manifolds, test separators, and expensive flowline plug valves.

Built to survive extreme turbulence and high-impact scouring, the housing is forged from premium alloy steel and is fully rated for 15,000 PSI (FIG 1502) working pressure. When built into a dual-barrel (double-decker or side-by-side) bypass configuration, it allows operators to isolate one barrel to safely bleed off and clean out the accumulated debris without ever shutting in the well or interrupting critical flowback operations.

Features & Benefits

  • Full-Bore 3" Flow Capacity: Utilizes 3-inch internal screens to match the 3-inch flowline, providing maximum fluid volume and significantly reducing pressure bottlenecks compared to standard 2-inch screen models.

  • Extreme Equipment Preservation: Aggressively traps large drill-out debris, preventing catastrophic damage and costly downtime for downstream chokes and separation equipment.

  • 15,000 PSI CWP Rating: Built from heavy-duty forged steel with standard FIG 1502 hammer union connections, ensuring absolute pressure containment in the harshest frac iron setups.

  • Continuous Flow Capability: When configured as a dual-barrel system, operators can bypass the flow, dump the junk, and swap screens without halting well production.

  • Sour Service Options: Available in NACE MR0175 compliant configurations for safe, reliable operation in environments containing hazardous H2S (sour gas).

Specifications & Technical Details

Category Specification

Service Application High-Rate Flowback, Well Testing, Drill-Out Operations

Applications

The 3" x 3" Trash Catcher is mandatorily deployed for high-volume initial flowback and coiled tubing drill-outs following hydraulic fracturing. It is the preferred primary filtration hub when operators expect extreme fluid rates and massive amounts of solid debris, ensuring the flow stream is clean before it hits the choke manifold and test separators.

Quality Assurance

Every trash catcher body and manifold assembly is manufactured in strict accordance with API 6A standards. To guarantee structural integrity, all pressure-containing components undergo rigorous non-destructive testing (NDT)—including ultrasonic (UT) and magnetic particle (MPI) inspections—and are hydrostatically pressure tested to 1.5 times the maximum working pressure before field deployment.
