The Lightweight 3" FIG 1502 Double Cushion Elbow (Male Wing x Female Thread) is an engineered high-pressure flowline component designed to combat severe velocity-induced erosion in 15,000 PSI high-capacity treating lines while significantly reducing transport and assembly weight. By combining the legendary wear protection of a standard cushion block with an optimized, weight-saving external geometry, this fitting minimizes crew fatigue during manual rig-ups without sacrificing wall thickness or pressure containment.
In large-scale operations like high-rate hydraulic fracturing, high-volume cementing, and high-sand flowback, standard target elbows are famously dense, bulky, and difficult to maneuver. This lightweight version features precision-machined external profiles that strip away excess metal from non-pressurized zones. Internally, it still utilizes the signature dual-chamber stagnation pockets. These pockets capture a sacrificial layer of stagnant sand and fluid, which absorbs the impact of incoming high-velocity slurries, protecting the core alloy shell from erosion and premature wall-thinning.
The 3" FIG 1502 configuration provides a standard high-pressure male wing end complete with a heavy-duty wingnut, paired with a precision-machined female thread (sub) connection. This delivers a direct, secure, and leak-free hammer-up connection for high-volume mainlines while optimizing field ergonomics.
Features & Benefits
-
Optimized Lightweight Profile: Engineered with a streamlined outer block geometry to remove dead weight, making manual handling, alignment, and hammer-up vastly easier for field crews.
-
Dual-Cushion Erosion Barrier: Retains the high-performance dual internal stagnation chambers that catch fluid and sand to form a natural shield against direct particle impingement.
-
Full 15K CWP Capacity: Despite its weight-optimized exterior, the fitting is forged from premium alloys to safely handle continuous extreme working pressures up to 15,000 PSI.
-
Large-Bore Efficiency: The full 3-inch bore size accommodates massive volumetric flow rates without causing excessive pressure drop or fluid turbulence.
-
Direct MxF Connection: Features a standard 3" 1502 wingnut on one side and a threaded sub on the other, allowing fast installation without extra adapter fittings.

Applications
This lightweight 3-inch double cushion elbow is ideal for temporary treating lines and high-pressure surface routing where erosive fluids are pumped and rapid manual deployment is required. Typical applications include high-rate frac manifold mainlines, mobile sand separator outlet configurations, flowback iron corners, long-duration well testing setups, and cementing discharge lines.
Quality Assurance
All our lightweight double cushion elbows are manufactured from premium forged alloy steel and subjected to rigorous quality control processes. Each block undergoes dimensional layout checks, non-destructive testing (NDT), and strict hydrostatic testing to guarantee ultimate shell integrity, seal performance, and pressure containment under peak field conditions. Full material test reports (MTRs) are available upon request.
