The Cushion Elbow, 3" FIG 1502 Female (Thread) x 3" FIG 1502 Female (Thread), is an ultra-heavy-duty forged steel directional fitting engineered to combat severe velocity-induced erosion in extreme 15,000 PSI high-capacity treating lines. Also known as a target elbow, this specialized large-bore component features an internal stagnation pocket that intentionally traps a small amount of sand and fluid during operations. This captured media acts as a natural, sacrificial shock absorber, deflecting the punishing impact of incoming abrasive slurries and shielding the outer steel wall from rapid wear and thinning.
In demanding surface operations like high-rate hydraulic fracturing, massive volume cementing, and high-sand well flowback, standard long-radius elbows are highly susceptible to point-of-failure washouts caused by direct particle impingement. By redirecting the abrasive wear away from the raw steel and onto the trapped fluid layer, the cushion elbow design drastically extends the operational lifespan of the iron package, lowers maintenance downtime, and protects onsite personnel.
This specific fitting utilizes a highly versatile FxF (Female x Female) configuration. Both ends of the elbow feature precision-machined 3-inch FIG 1502 female thread (sub) connections. These female ports are designed to securely seat standard 1502 male wing profiles, providing critical flexibility when designing and routing complex high-pressure manifold systems that require dual-female connection points.
Features & Benefits
-
Erosion-Resistant Cushion Pocket: Features a specialized internal target chamber that captures stagnant fluid and sand, creating a protective barrier that eliminates direct abrasive impingement on the outer wall.
-
Dual Female Configuration: Equipped with two precision-machined 3-inch 1502 threaded subs (FxF), allowing for seamless integration into specifically engineered piping layouts requiring female-to-female junctions.
-
Full 15K CWP Capacity: Engineered to safely and continuously handle extreme working pressures up to 15,000 PSI, built for the most demanding oilfield environments.
-
Large-Bore Efficiency: The full 3-inch bore size accommodates massive volumetric flow rates without causing excessive pressure drops or unwanted fluid turbulence.
-
Heavy-Duty Forged Construction: Manufactured from high-strength forged alloy steel to withstand extreme piping vibration, severe mechanical shock loads, and high-pressure fatigue.

Applications
This 3-inch FxF cushion elbow is a critical safety and longevity asset for high-pressure surface routing where high-velocity slurries cause premature failure in standard radius fittings. Typical applications include high-rate frac manifold mainlines, complex choke and kill layouts, sand separator tie-ins, flowback iron corners, cementing discharge lines, and any pipeline geometry change requiring premium erosion resistance and a Female-to-Female connection setup.
Quality Assurance
All our integral cushion elbows are manufactured from premium forged alloy steel and subjected to strict quality control processes. Each fitting undergoes rigorous dimensional inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), and hydrostatic pressure testing prior to shipment to ensure absolute safety, shell integrity, and seal performance under maximum working loads. Full material traceability is available to guarantee compliance with API guidelines.
